Pat has performed mainly as a
solo act in pubs, festivals, and concerts in Ireland, the UK, the
USA, Canada, Germany, and Switzerland as well as folk music cruises.
He has played support to many acts over the years in Ireland
including The Furey Brothers & Davey Arthur, Christy Moore, Mick
Hanly, Ryan’s Fancy, Tommy Makem, Brendan Grace, and The Wolfe
Tones, and shared bills with various acts as diverse as Tommy Makem
and The Kruger Brothers. He has appeared on Irish Language TV
Channel TG4 twice and on NBC, Charlotte, NC, USA. He has given
presentations on folk music and history through song and story. He
receives airplay on local radio and occasionally on national radio.
Pat hails from a quiet rural
area of County Cork, Ireland called Dripsey. With over 40 years of
public performing as a folksinger, guitarist, 5 string banjoist, he
is a seasoned performer with many
influences including Luke Kelly, Tommy Makem, Liam Clancy, Christy
Moore, Pete Seeger, Stan Rogers, Tom Paxton, Eric Bogle to name but
a few. Stagecraft and audience interaction come as second nature
from years of experience and learning of the craft
from those gone before him. He specializes in the long-neck folk
banjo and has given many workshops on this instrument. He is an
accomplished clawhammer-style banjo player. He has many recordings
of his work and has been in steady demand as a session musician. In
recent years, Pat has begun his journey as a songwriter.
